DA-PhilRice Joins PhilSA in Advancing Space-Based Agriculture at SatFARM Workshop

The Philippine Rice Information System (PRiSM) played a vital role as both collaborator and participant in the Philippine Space Agency’s (PhilSA) Space and Technology for Agricultural Resource Monitoring (SatFARM) Workshop, held from December 2 to 4, 2025, at the Science City of Muñoz.

Experts and researchers from DA-PhilRice joined professionals from various government agencies for a three-day intensive training on emerging space technologies, such as the MULA satellite, the CropBio Project, and SatGPT.

PRiSM’s involvement in these technical sessions deepened its expertise in utilizing satellite data and artificial intelligence for national crop monitoring and flood-risk assessment, while also strengthening its collaboration with PhilSA.

The workshop highlighted the essential role of advanced technologies in climate-resilient planning. This participation reaffirmed DA-PhilRice’s commitment to staying at the forefront of space-based innovations, ensuring that the country’s rice monitoring systems remain among the most advanced and data-driven in the region.
