PRiSM Wraps 2023 with a Five-Year Review to Refine and Enhance Operations
December 16, 2023
With the theme “Harvesting Tomorrow: Refining and Enhancing PRiSM’s Resilience and Relevance,” the Philippine Rice Information System (PRiSM) concluded a four-day operational review and planning workshop held from December 11 to 14 at the DBP Training Complex in Baguio City.
The review-workshop aimed to conduct a comprehensive assessment and analysis of client-related challenges and to formulate a strategic action plan. By addressing these challenges, PRiSM aims to strengthen its effectiveness and continue delivering high-quality data on rice-related information.

To review the previous years’ operations, Regional Facilitators from each PhilRice branch station reported data from 2018 to 2022, including monitoring fields, planting calendars, data turnout, and top rice varieties in their respective regions. They also discussed challenges encountered, solutions implemented, and planned activities for the coming year.
The team also conducted a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis and strategic planning session led by the PRiSM Unit Head to determine how PRiSM can refine and enhance its methods and processes to produce better products and provide improved services.
The strategies formulated include further collaboration and integration with other government agencies, exploring new technologies to streamline PRiSM’s processes, and conducting additional training and assessments to enrich the knowledge and skills of PRiSM staff.
